Dehiscence to Evisceration

What a day. What is the difference between EVISCERATION and DEHISCENCE? Why did I ask?! These two got me confused a while ago. I really got to review my basics.

Status post Removal of Suture. After a few minutes the patient vomits. Then this happened: wound dehiscence that leads to evisceration. I immediately packed the site with wet OS to cover the internal oragans. The bowels coming out its time for emergency re-suturing of the post operative site.

Just Remember:

D - DEHISCENCE - Separation or splitting of layers of a surgical wound.
E - EVISCERATION - Extrusion of viscera, or intestine through a surgical wound.

Mnemonic:

The letter "D" has no opening while the letter "E" has opening.
Remember if there's an opening the contents can escape. "E" for evisceration, Escape, extrusion.
'D' Dehiscence still intact slight opening but nothing is coming out.

A fresh new start...

Here I am in front of my laptop staring and thinking what to write about. Well here it goes! This is one of my useless blog site because nothing is so interesting about it, basically it is all about me. But come to think of it after reading my past blogs you can store a lot of memories from this online journal. These written words that will be saved for very long long time and it will become my memories of the past and my history. I am to tell my story.

To start with I will introduce myself. I am Iann Patrick Gerona Fontano, 22 years old, residing at Tamag, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. A Registered Nurse Since 2007 and a Vascular Technologist. I am currently working in a Hospital here in the province (Saint James Hospital) for almost about 2 years now. I am an ICU Nurse and as a Vascular Technologist, I perform a diagnostic procedure with the use of ultrasound and Doppler. Enough about that. I remembered I am writting my history.

What else can I say. LIKES? Hmmm. I love or like a lot of things. I will describe myself as a simple person. Just PLAIN and SIMPLE. I can be ambitious. I am a person mostly going against the flow instead of the other way around. I am adventurous, I like to travel and Enjoy life, and Experience a lot.

For now I don't have any idea on what to do because there are so many things in my head right now. I hope I'll get organized soon.
